Memphis Explosions Dance Team Parents
T. Boykins: My child has been under the leadership of Jamaica and De'Ja' for approximately two years. She started with them as a cheerleader and when they decided to start a dance program we just followed them. My child was very very shy and her personality has expanded. Just by them telling her positive things such as she can stand out. I remember one day De'Ja' passed my child a note and the note simply told her to get acquainted with her inner self. Every since that day my child has blossomed. I saw a total different child. They are some giving individuals. I recall bringing a young lady that I know to the team and I knew her family couldn't afford it, but Jamaica told me to just keep bringing the child and she would worry about the money issues later. Needless to say they child participated and did not lack anything. She had everything that all of the other children had. My daughter is now 10 and she enjoy everything about Memphis Explosions.
N. Perkins: My daughter is 10 and she started under Mrs. Jamaica and De'Ja' under cheer. She has been with dance since the beginning of the program and she basically fell in love with their mentoring and coaching style. Since she has been a part of the organization her sense of sisterhood, partnering with the girls and her leadership skills has just been outstanding. We love everything Memphis Explosions stands for!
T. Harris: Well I have known Jamaica for many years. My daughter started Memphis Explosions when she was six years old, but as of today she is eight years of age and she has never been a part of any organization. She kept telling me she want to dance and let me put myself on blast personally I didn't believe my baby was ready because I didn't think she really had it in her. When Jamaica put the flyer out we jumped on board and have been here every since. I wish you could see my shirt its tore up from the floor up because this is a years worth of blood, sweat, and tears.
